Love Lockdown...literally.

I wonder if Kanye knew about this before he wrote and released love lockdown. Well, in Paris, there are these two bridges where the iron bars are filled with locks. What are these locks for? Well, essentially, they are there to "lock" your love.

There are two different bridges which have the locks all over them and the significance is that you lock your love to the bridge and toss the keys into the Seine so that it is virtually impossible to get the keys back and "unlock" your love. The idea is that it is a form of permanence and you dedicate your love here.

So as I said, there are two bridges. There is Pont de l'Archeveche which is near Notre Dame Cathedral and there is Pont des Artes near the Louvre. Each bridge has its own meaning and dedication.

The Pont de l'Archeveche bridge is full of locks left by people FOR their lover. Wishing them well, wishing them to stay connected, etc. Its absolutely PACKED. Its beautifully situated near the rear of Notre Dame so that you can see all the flying buttresses (architectural features meant to hold up the thick walls) and the 19th century steeple.

The other bridge, Pont des Artes, is less cluttered because it is for your relationship. It's more for people in committed relationships to say that they want to be with each other forever and symbolically throw the key away so that it cannot be undone. I guess people are really afraid of commitment.
