Musee Comando, Park Monceau

The day after musee du cognac jay, we went to musee comando which was to show us how a rococo french interior was supposed to be designed. rococo was a movement in art, spanning painting, sculpture, architecture, and in todays case, interior decoration. Rococo was primarily a style embodied by the aristocratic group of people where they were able to be frivolous with their money and live a whimsical life. This is reflected in all the mediums of rococo.

In interior decoration, you can notice the extravagant designs and flamboyant, and sometimes overwhelming adornments in a room. You can see around the room, from the wood panels which have raised wood painted designs, to the silk, and tapestry chairs that there is opulence in every nook and cranny of the interior. Everything is ostentatious. My favorite part was the kitchen because it was HUGE and had this boiler like grill set which reminded me of the boiler in Beauty and the Beast which Mrs. Potts interacts with. (favorite disney movie ever by the way)

woooooo ornate staircase!

beauty and the beast boiler

look at that interior

just wow
LIBRARY LOVE
After the museum, we went to this place called Park Monceau. It was simple and pretty and had lots of different areas which people were expected to walk through and experience different reactions and emotions. For example, there are roman columns all around that are supposed to make you imagine that you are in an ancient roman city and somehow transport you there with the aid of imagination. It was quaint and was also featured in the movie Gigi.

turtle!

see the roman columns? supposed to be reminiscent of
hadrian's tomb.

picturesque bridge.

  1. Oh my god, that library. Also, Rococo is a song by Arcade Fire, I guess it sort of makes sense now? And that bridge is beautiful. Take me to Paris!
